GOAL-ORIENTED FITNESS & HEALTH REGIME

#JGBMAKEOVER 2016!

Everyone I have mentioned this to has responded ‘YOU ARE CRAZY’. And perhaps I am! But I know that I can do it and I’m 100% sure that it will benefit me in more ways than it will deter me. So, IT IS ON!

Why 4 months without booze? The 2nd and final semester of my PR program is 4 months long. I have set so many goals for these 4 months that it only seems fit to cut out any unhealthy distractions that affect my energy, moods and productivity levels. Alcohol is a big part of my social life and I’d like to learn to develop new habits when it comes to this social lubricant.

Skills and abilities challenged (and showcased) by this endeavour:
Dedication
Self-discipline
Perseverance
Hard work
Mental and physical strength

When it comes to health and fitness commitments, I tend to fluctuate between super fit and super lazy (sloth-like, even).

If I’ve learned anything at all from these extremes, it’s that there is a long list of benefits that come with living well, i.e. eating well, exercising regularly and avoiding JGB kryptonite (allergies and alcohol).

This week I am launching the #makingJGB campaign. I am documenting a year of my life as I work towards launching my career.

Because I am setting and tracking big goals through this campaign, I feel it is necessary that I be in the best shape that I can possibly be, in order to tackle everything on my plate.

I have experienced what it’s like to be the ‘best JGB I can be’ and I am 100% sure that I need to get back to the best version of myself in order to up my game and give my goals everything I’ve got.

GOALS

Lose 25-30 pounds
– Ideal weight: 130 pounds
– Current weight: Close to 160 pounds

Develop healthy eating and drinking habits
– Avoid food allergies
– Reduce sugar intake
– Reduce dependence on caffeine
– Ditch the distraction of booze
– Drink more water, tea and fresh pressed juices

FITNESS COMPONENT

Gym 3 x per week (at least)
– Yoga
– HITT
– Bootcamp
– Pilates
– Spin
– Kickboxing
– Running

HEALTH COMPONENT

Drink: 3 full water bottles per day

Avoid:
– Additives & Preservatives (allergies)
– Alcohol (kryptonite)
– Dairy (allergy)
